Yoga
My primary teaching style is inspired by vinyasa krama yoga, a style brought to prominence by the legendary yogi Sri. T. Krishnamacharya. In this flowing yoga the functions of the mind, body, and breath are integrated and the student experiences an elevated level of mental peace.
The physical postures are linked to each other with transitional movements (vinyasas), while the mind closely follows the slow, deliberate, deep breathing. Thus the breath is used as a harness that links the body and mind, and the union of yoga is achieved.
The movements are slow in vinyasa yoga, and the student learns to deepen the breath and slow the breathing rate. By keeping the mind focused on the controlled breath, which leads the movements, the student progresses safely and without injury. A state of steady awareness is cultivated, and from this place the student can access his or her natural inner state of peace and joy.
Regular yoga practice has been shown to provide many significant health benefits, including overall strength and flexibility, reduced back and neck pain, mobilized joints, improved stress management, reduced anxiety, balance, coordination, improved mental focus, deeper sleep, lowered heart rate, more self-confidence and emotional poise, inner peace and calm, more loving relationships, spiritual awakening and personal growth.
Combined with a natural raw vegan diet, the benefits are truly magnificent! You can expect to experience new clarity of mind and emotional equilibrium, and a sense of lightness, strength, energy and vitality beyond what you’ve ever known.
Living Yoga's classes are held in the intimacy of my home on the west side of Ann Arbor. The classes are kept small, and foster one-on-one attention and a real experience of personal growth and community building. Classes are appropriate for men and women of beginning and intermediate levels.
Private yoga sessions are also available, $75 per session. Private sessions are appropriate for anyone who would experience difficulty keeping up in a group class, or any student who would like to enhance their experience of yoga. This is a special opportunity to go deeper in your practice, and to get the extra one-on-one support you need with specific postures, sequences, breathing, alignment or physical issues. It is the place to refine your practice, develop a solid home practice, learn techniques for taking care of your unique body and needs, and explore your questions and concerns in more depth.

Testimonials:
“Studying with you was both practically useful, as well as inspiring. You clarified and corrected poses I'd been doing on my own for years, and you showed me how to set up a home practice that was doable, yet comprehensive and balanced. I appreciated your cheerfulness, enthusiasm, genuine caring, and especially your encouragement. And those meditations in Shavasana at the end were priceless - I felt myself gliding very naturally into a wonderfully deep state of peace and rejuvenation. Thank you!”
